Clearing Drains
Drains become clogged when hair, grease, and soap residues accumulate over a period of time. Commercial drain cleaners use a highly corrosive chemical, usually caustic soda (lye), to dissolve the blockage. Instead, these are non-toxic alternatives for keeping your drains clear.
Unclogging drains with
a plunger
the best, way to unclog a blocked drain is to use a rubber plunger (available
from any hardware store).
First remove the strainer if you have one, and
make sure the drain is completely covered with the plunger as you need to
create sufficient pressure to break through the clogging substance.
To prevent
drains from becoming blocked in the first place, always use a strainer in
your bathroom sink and bath drains to trap loose hair, and never pour grease
down your kitchen sink.
